Demystifying a wedding ceremony
will make you less nervous when le
grande affaire occurs. Each religion has their own rituals,
customs and traditions for wedding ceremonies. Your clergyman
or officiant may also have special rules and procedures to which
they must adhere when they officiate a wedding ceremony or renewal
of vows. As you plan your ceremony, be sure to consult with
your officiant each step of the way.
A general outline of the sequence of events for a traditional
ceremony begins with the processional. Next, you'll listen to
a welcome, a Call to Worship and an introduction, where the
officiant greets the guests and usually says a few words about
marriage.
During the Questions of Intent, your officiant will ask the
bride and the groom
those time-honored questions, "Will you have this women
to be your wedded wife, to live together in the holy estate
of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor, and keep
her, in sickness and in health?" The couple replies with
the Declaration of Consent. They kiss, and the marriage is sealed,
and it's off to the wedding reception.
